comment from No Dice ------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Orwell would have loved the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good news: the Rivers Casino is doing horribly! Rivers was projected to make $7 million a week off gamblers; instead it’s ranking 7th of Pennsylvania’s 9 casinos at under $4 million a week. Help the Rivers Casino toward an early demise by telling all your friends to steer clear of this predatory, greedy operation. See No Dice’s media release taking (a little bit of) the credit for Rivers’s struggles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With state government promoting gambling more shamelessly than ever, the need for presentations on gambling prevention—how to keep yourself and your loved ones from being hurt by predatory casinos and the lure of gambling addiction—is greater than ever. Winners Avoid Casinos campaign kickoff No Dice held a media conference on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 to launch its “Winners Avoid Casinos” campaign. The media conference took place at the intersection of Allegheny and Ridge on the North Shore, near the West End bridge and within sight of the construction activity at the proposed Majestic Star casino site. No Dice displayed its initial “Winners Avoid Casinos” merchandise and described the presentation, “The Two-Armed Bandit: Gambling in 21st-Century America,” that it plans to offer throughout the Pittsburgh area. Several speakers discussed their personal experience of gambling addiction and the impact they expect a casino to have in Pittsburgh.
