“Winners Avoid Casinos” launch tomorrow!
We’re a little late on this newsletter, but not because we’ve been on vacation. On the contrary, we’ve been planning the public launch of our “Winners Avoid Casinos” campaign. It will happen at the intersection of Allegheny and Ridge on the North Shore tomorrow (Tuesday, May 6) at 1:00 p.m.
Along with the No Dice board, we anticipate appearances by four other local leaders from the nonprofit community who expect that their organizations will have even more work to do if a casino opens in Pittsburgh.
You can help our momentum by requesting some “Winners Avoid Casinos” bumper stickers and window clings, or by seeking permission for No Dice to make an appearance at your church or organization. We can give a 30- to 45-minute presentation or a shorter promotional appearance.
We’d love to have a few more friends there. You can just show up, or call me today for more information.
Turn the recession in our favor!
Now is the time to make a difference. The sagging economy and Don Barden’s credit woes offer one more conceivable way for the Pittsburgh casino to be delayed or even shelved.
It’s happened before. The Harrah’s casino project in New Orleans has gone bankrupt twice. One of John Connelly’s riverboat casinos on the Mississippi went under.
Imagine what might happen if thousands of Pittsburgh-area citizens pledged to stay out of casinos and began sporting “Winners Avoid Casinos” merchandise. It’s worth a try, isn’t it?
